In exactly a month from today, Life 2 the Full writers, Emeritus and Dante Jones will be hopping into a streamlined lump of steel with four Rolls Royce engines and a few hundred seats, and fly to the other end of the planet, while switching to Perigrinus 2004 mode.
There's that word again - Peregrinus.
From the very beginning Christians made pilgrimages to holy sites, and to the Holy Land in particular. There is a very valuable perspective that can be gained from literally walking in the footsteps of Christ. After the Romans killed Peter, his tomb also became a place of pilgrimage.
A little while after Peter, there was a Roman citizen, who's name was Peregrinus. It seems he travelled a lot. All over the Roman empire in fact. He wasn't happy in fact unless he was going from A to B. or M to N. or U to V... you get the idea.
Well, along the way all these Christians on pilgrimage must have reminded people of Perigrinus of old, and so one on a pilgrimage became know as a Peregrinus.
So in that older than Mecca tradition, Emeritus and Dante will make a pilgrimage of our own. Some of the places we'll be travelling to are not all that old; Lourdes for example, but others have a much more beaten track leading to them, like Compastella de Santiago, Rome sweet Rome and Jerusalem, who we hope never to forget.
Our travels will also take us to Constanople (as I like to think of her) to pay a visit to the Hagia Sophia, via Ravenna and Venice, as each of these cities have shared more than a little history.
As we travel about we hope to regularly regail you with stories of our adventures as well as insights and relevations along the way.
Be sure to keep and eye on how we go.
We'll also regularly submit photo's to our galleries so that you don't have to miss out, and get back to see through our eyes.
A
portion of the Life 2 the Full site has been dedicated to assisting us be Peregrinus in 2004. Some of the links may be of interest and use to others too, if so - enjoy.
However, there is no point making a pilgrimage of any kind in any age if your heart is not properly disposed. Please pray for us, that we may indeed love God without reserve and our neighbour as ourselves, and through this pilgrimage be converted with our hearts broken, not our garments tourn.
