As one may expect,
Slashdot has a story on the lastest stable release of the finest web browser available -
Mozilla.
It just so happens to be free also, thanks to it's
Open Source License.
I've been testing Mozilla 1.7 since it's beta, and it's
much faster than previous versions, even under Mac OSX, where it did tend to run slower.
So repent! Cast off MS Internet Explorer, the
Web browser of evil, and choose the cleaner and virtious life of free and honest Mozilla.
Find a
mirror and download it. Then thank God, and the community that writes Mozilla.
Seriously, it is very much more secure than IE, where about once a day I get antivirus reports telling me that IE has been infected with this virus or that trojan, and this is just on a lab of 9 fully patched Win2k machines.
Anyone with a conscience or a brain should use Mozilla
not IE. It's a lot more honest, stable and filled with features that are useful like tabs, popup ad blocks & spam filters.
Need more convincing?
Also Mozilla has other useful things like Mail, IRC, Web-edit etc.
If you just need a browser and nothing else, then Mozilla Firefox is probably the better choice.
But I like Mozilla
http://mozoo.org/
It will fit on a mini CD, and is a very convenient way to provide the very latest Mozilla and Open Office with plugins and Java runtime to windows users.
With just one installer that is automatically run, whichever portions you like will be installed.
It's Open Source for Grand Mothers!
It adds a huge number of configurable options to tabs including colour coding and download status bars(almost too many options). You can also stop links opening new windows etc. Great for Opera users many similar features.
